We at Bambooya are inspired by the human spirit, and the goodwill and courage of ordinary people and everyday entrepreneurs who get up each day, work hard, and try to make the
world a better place for their families, community, and fellow men and women!
To help alleviate poverty and to support entrepreneurs throughout the developing world,
Bambooya, through our
Bambooya Kiva Lending Team, will give a portion of its sales in the form of micro-loans to
Kiva, the world's first person-to-person
micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to entrepreneurs in the developing world, and now in the USA as well!, so they may start or expand a small business.

Recently, our
Bambooya Kiva Lending Team made its first micro-loan (however small to start!) to a young woman named Karen Yessenia from Peru
(see picture above and her story below), and we are very excited about it!

Kiva if you'd also like to "make loans that change lives"!
Please meet Karen Yessenia from Peru in the above picture: Karen Yessenia is 19 years old and is a member of the Communal Bank "Women in Power". She lives at 261 José de la Riva Agüero of the El Porvenir district, Trujillo province, in the department of La Libertad, Peru.
She graduated from high school and is now learning how to make handicrafts. She lives with her partner and their 11-month-old baby. Her business entails the making of arts and crafts with her mother-in-law. She also rents costumes.
With her first loan of 300 soles, which she repaid in 4 installments, she invested in materials for her crafts. With this loan of 300 soles, which she'll repay in 4 installments, she'll invest in materials for costume-making. Karen dreams of one day owning a big costume and arts and crafts store.
Below are the different faces of the people and entrepreneurs
